What do you call a couple dozen people shivering and staring intently towards home? Parents at a little-league game in the month of April of course! Our family has been baptized into the blustery and compelling new world of the Key Peninsula Little League at the leading of our son who is playing for the first time this year. I'm sure the pace of the games will improve as the season progresses... at least I'm praying that they do.
Amidst the rhythm of the umpire calling out, "ball, ball, ball, ball, take your base, ball, ball, STRIKE!, ball,..." I find myself enjoying watching these young ball players strive to do their very best. For many of them dreams of Griffey-esque careers are being highlighted on their mental jumbotrons. For others it would just be nice to have a cup of hot chocolate, maybe with some marshmallows and sprinkles. Clearly I digress.
