It's currently four shakes and a skosh after 2pm (a.k.a. 2:21pm) as I sit here reflecting and digesting the blur of Monday through Friday that culminated with my sweet wife firmly planting pie in my face.  (It was whipped cream with a couple slices of banana and a chocolate graham crust.)  Who knew that people could so thoroughly enjoy watching a pastor get creamed?  I was happy to oblige.

Even though it goes without saying it needs to be said anyway: this year's amazing turn out is a continuation of what happened last year and years past.  It wasn't that long ago that we were doing VBS "mobilized" and working super hard to make it a great event as we chased wind-blown papers over at Volunteer Park.  Thank you Christine!  It is also a reflection of the remarkable work God is doing in our community alongside so many passionate and hardworking people.  There were multiple highlights during the week and I'm sure that I won't hit all of them but I thought I'd share with you some of the ones that made me smile...

1) Seeing 100+ kids sing with their whole bodies!  I was fortunate enough to be on stage where I could see them all.  If we could have stored up the energy expressed in the building this week Peninsula Light might have some serious competition.  (Wouldn't we all like that?)

2) Watching helpers come in and serve selflessly day after day.  I know we were all getting tired but we kept our eyes on the prize!

3) 14 (I think) children deciding to fully trust Jesus!

4) Theresa's eloquent "Theresa-isms" during Bible story time

5) Will E. Makitt - Rory, that was hilarious.  Thank you, Pat, for writing such a fun script that so firmly imprinted the truths of Joshua 1:9.

6) Having the chance to refer to the lessons from VBS (specifically "don't be terrified" and "be courageous") with my daughter who was/is overcoming a fear of all things creepy-crawly.  Funny how God's timing works that way.

Have you got anything to add?  Praise the Lord!
