What do you call a couple dozen people shivering and staring intently towards home?  Parents at a little-league game in the month of April of course!  Our family has been baptized into the blustery and compelling new world of the Key Peninsula Little League at the leading of our son who is playing for the first time this year.  I'm sure the pace of the games will improve as the season progresses... at least I'm praying that they do.

Amidst the rhythm of the umpire calling out, "ball, ball, ball, ball, take your base, ball, ball, STRIKE!, ball,..." I find myself enjoying watching these young ball players strive to do their very best.  For many of them dreams of Griffey-esque careers are being highlighted on their mental jumbotrons.  For others it would just be nice to have a cup of hot chocolate, maybe with some marshmallows and sprinkles.  Clearly I digress.

I'm proud of the people on my son's team.  I'm proud of the manager who is unwaivering in his devotion to teach the game he loves to these young guys.  He's stresses excellence over the final score and fundamentals over trick-plays.  Thanks coach!  I'm proud of my wife who has bravely entered the world of score keeping and extended herself beyond her comfort zone.  Way to go Honey!  I'm really proud of my son who is learning so much so fast about this American pastime.  Each new practice and each new game is an adventure for him.  That first hit is something I won't easily forget.  Way to go son!

There are parts of organized baseball that I don't enjoy:  over competitive parents and people who forget that this is a game, which by definition is fun, top my "ugly list".  Even these portions that are "endured" more than "enjoyed" remind me that this is where we're supposed to be.  We have opportunities to encourage people and share hope with them nearly every practice and certainly every game.  What a privilege it is for us to be in the world -  gossiping the gospel and occaisionally using words to do so.  (loosely paraphrased from St. Francis of Assisi)

Be Well!  Live out loud!

Re: Play Ball!

AH.....Little League; my life for so many years! (You didn't mention sunflower seeds). You're so right about the opportunities. But also a challenge to be salt and light rather than blend in with the crowd.

Re: Play Ball!

Your right, CP, I did forget about the sunflower seeds but that might be due to the fact that it is so hard to deal with those little guys when your face is numb.

I should also mention that there are many WayPoint families involved with KPLL that do a great job and are a fantastic witness to those around them. I'm proud to be connected with these fine folks.

Sometimes Office 2010, in Windows Vista using Office2007/2003 to Microsoft Office open the Microsoft Office 2010 original article written by a lot of fonts Office 2007 can not display properly: the italics and somehow Microsoft Office 2010 Professional change the text in italics, the article spacing increases, and the layout is also an error Acrobat 9, originally shown on this page change to the next page Microsoft Office 2007 of text for no reason, how Microsoft Project Professional 2010 is this going on. Tips 1: Use a good Document Map If the long title of the document built, the Microsoft Office 2010 Home & Student directory structure of the Adobe reader style, you can in the use of "Document Map" feature for fast browsing and jump, but the default settings of the feature has not Office 2007 Professional been enabled Microsoft Project 2010, you can "View → Document Microsoft Visio Professional 2010 Structure map "sub-menu, select" Left "or" keep right "display the document structure diagram. This Microsoft Office 2010 Home & Business is to select "Left" in effect Office 2007 Ultimate, need to see a long document, the contents of a chapter, directly select the chart in the document Microsoft Visio 2010, and then the right side of the window will automatically display Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student relevant content, the default will show all levels, if you are feel that this is Adobe Acrobat too messy, you can click the Project 2010 "Show Level" button from the drop-down menu, select the need to show the level, and then immediately enter into force, can Visio 2010 be said to be very convenient Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional.
