It was great to read your responses to the last entry, "Open Doors, Open Schedules" on facebook. Yes, I do the facebook thing as I'm sure many of you do as well. For those of you who have entered the social networking land and would like to be my "friend", I think this is a fine arrangement. Of course facebook can never replace face time and true friendship is so much more than status updates, likeness quizzes and joining the latest cause. I've come to really enjoy connecting with old friends from high school, previous places we've lived and the ministries we've been connected with. I'll admit that at first I was skeptical of what this trendy thing was all about. I had some serious concerns about some of the things that can happen when people get carried away with their online world.
I still have some of these concerns and they are probably like yours: wasting time, being distracted from other tasks, deteriorating conversational skills, crude content and of course we've all heard about online affairs and the marriages that break up as a result. Each of these concerns are really only concerns but they have the potential to become much more. Even so, some can be addressed by a simple series of clicks on the "account settings" section and others require things like personal restraint and self-control. Consider this counsel from Proverbs 25:28, "Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control."
In my last entry I encouraged you to move towards having open doors and an open schedule. I think it is essential to our spiritual growth and maturity that we invest into each others lives. I also believe that we must take ownership of our time, work and relationships and not have them own us. Some of you use your online interactions to encourage others and glorify the Lord which is a great thing! Be careful to maintain the healthy relationships you need away from your computer; with the Lord, your family and friends. Some of you may have something resembling a steady stream of visitors in and out of your home; your doors and time are open. Be conscious of the need to rest and abide in Jesus and to nurture your soul. We are created for community and yet thereis a need for those "walls" spoken of to protect us from ourselves and from being completely overwhelmed.
Acheiving balance in life is something that so many people aspire towards. Time, money, relationships, hobbies and work all shout for our attention and when we focus on the various needs/wants it can be dizzying. Probably the best solution to all of this is for us to keep our eyes and ears fixed on Jesus who knows exactly what we need and when we need it.
Abide in Him!

Re: Walls
A great bit of help comes from a short booklet called, "Tyranny of the Urgent" by Charles E. Hummel. When I say short I really do mean it in this case but the words contained are outstanding. If anyone would like a copy please let me know!

This Microsoft Office 2010 Home & Business is to select "Left" in effect Office 2007 Ultimate, need to see a long document, the contents of a chapter, directly select the chart in the document Microsoft Visio 2010, and then the right side of the window will automatically display Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student relevant content, the default will show all levels, if you are feel that this is Adobe Acrobat too messy, you can click the Project 2010 "Show Level" button from the drop-down menu, select the need to show the level, and then immediately enter into force, can Visio 2010 be said to be very convenient Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional.
